The School of Film and Television was established by the Academy in September 1996. The School aims to be a professional centre of excellence to reflect upon, educate and influence existing practices in the international, local and regional screen production industries. The School currently offers a four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree programme in Film and Television and a Master’s of Fine Arts degree programme in Cinema Production which can be completed in two years (full-time) or 3-4 years (part-time). The programmes are designed to develop high level film and television, and cinematic skills at the technical and craft level, as well as to nurture and encourage creative and artistic development. In particular, the School aims to train students to create as a team. Film and television is about teamwork. The director is one part of the team, the producer, sound recordist, sound designer, editor, screenwriter, cinematographer and production designer sum up all the parts. Each team member makes their personal creative and technical contribution.

電影電視學院於一九九六年九月正式成立，旨在成為卓越的影視 專業教育中心，以反映本地性及國際電影電視業的實際運作。 本學院提供一個從基礎到較深入的四年制電影電視學位課程，完成後將獲頒發藝術學士（榮譽）學位。這些課程旨在培養學生有 關影視製作的技術，致力提升他們的藝術修養與創作潛能。本學院亦提供電影製作藝術碩士課程，課程年期為兩年（全日制）或 三至四年（兼讀制）。 此外，課程強調影視創作的集體性本質。電影電視行業講求合作性，導演、製片、收音及音響設計、編劇、剪接、攝影與製作設 計都同樣重要，各成員均在自己的崗位上對整體製作作出創作及技術上的貢獻。

Applicants are expected to meet the General Admission Requirement of the Academy or have relevant experience in film and television. Those with experience in other related fields (eg. writing, theatre production, music production) are also eligible to apply. Applicants should send us

• Completed application form including a written statement in English and Chinese, stating the reasons for pursuing study in the School of Film and Television and indicating their professional goals and aspirations
• Portfolio of works (e.g. short film, photos, written works). Applicants are advised to select their works carefully and submit no more than 3 items. At least one of the submitted works must be a screen work.
• Applicants without a portfolio will not be invited for interview.
• For the requirements of the portfolio, please refer to the Guide to Applicants for Admission. Applicants should possess ability of comprehension and communication in Chinese and Cantonese. Qualified applicants will be invited for interviews.

申請者須符合香港演藝學院學士學位課程的基本入學資格，或於電影電視行業具相等的經驗或資歷。已具備專業經驗（包括編劇、舞台製作、音樂創作等）亦可申請。

• 申請者須填寫申請表格，以英文及中文書寫選擇入讀電影電視學院之原因，及個人職業的抱負及目標；及
• 提交不多於三件個人作品如影片、攝影作品及寫作等， 選擇時宜以質量為主。其中一件需為電影短片。
• 如申請者沒有遞交作品，將不會安排面試。
• 有關個人作品的要求，請參閱入學申請指南。 申請者必須對中文及廣東話有一定理解與運用能力。 合資格的申請者將獲邀參加面試，面試成績將作為取錄學生及後補生的依據。

Excellent opportunities are available to graduates with the technical skills, creative flair and entrepreneurial knowhow developed in the School. In the areas of sound, editing, and camera, the modern equipment used to train students will ensure a marketable qualification as both freelancer and in-house technician. Good production managers are in demand in both corporate and film companies. Producers will be in a position to start their own businesses or projects. Directors will be equipped to work in all drama and documentary situations. Writers will have learnt to write and develop their own ideas as well as being equipped to work on various production formats.

電影電視畢業生，接受過影視技術、創作和商業方面的訓練後，將有多元化的就業機會。修業期間，校方提供先進的器材讓學生接受音響、剪接、攝影方面的訓練，助畢業生充分準備成為公司的技術專業人員或以自僱形式受聘。不少企業和電視台都對製作管理人材需求甚殷。製作管理系學生甚至有不少都在畢業後開創自己的個人事業，實踐自己的計劃；導演系學生則可以投身各式各樣的戲劇或紀錄片製作，或先由副導演做起；修讀編劇的學生能把概念轉化為劇本，可以擔任編寫各類電影 劇本的工作。
